Exclusively for You: Chapter 14

Chapter 14: You're Big

✧༝┉˚*❋ ❋*˚┉༝✧

At first, Song Li only wanted to explain post-discharge instructions to him and let him rest. But when Sheng Mu Ci spoke in that low, restrained voice, in an instant, Song Li couldn't be straightforward anymore.

He wore a black home outfit, towering over her, backlit, completely enveloping her slender figure.

The light was dim and unclear.

"I work the night shift; it's my job..." Song Li composed herself, looking around as if nothing had happened.

"Oh," he suddenly realized, "work."

Song Li nodded firmly, steering the conversation back to the business at hand. "Don't smoke too much. While it may feel good, your body needs time to adjust. Take it easy. The same goes for alcohol. You also need to pay attention to rest and dietary restrictions...

Her soft and melodious voice spoke softly, like a cat whispering, meow, meow, meow, even making nagging sound amusing.

Shen Mu Ci suddenly chuckled.

"What's so funny?" Song Li raised her eyes, sneakily glancing at him.

"You're quite good at taking care of people," he commented casually.

Song Li quickly clarified, "You're my patient."

Mine.

Sheng Mu Ci lowered his eyes, savoring the word for a moment.

"It's just not my day," he took a step back and pulled out a small chair by the desk.

Bending slightly, his clothing shifted, revealing his waist.

Slim and well-defined, but completely bare, with nothing underneath.

Song Li immediately averted her gaze, not wanting to offend him with her stare.

Even though... she had already touched it.

More than once.

Sheng Mu Ci pulled a small chair in front of her, and at the same time, Song Li suddenly realized what he meant, her eyes widening in surprise, "Are you leaving the hospital tomorrow?"

Sheng Mu Ci immediately sat up, maintained a casual posture, turned his face slightly, and gave her a nonchalant look.

"Your tone..." He paused for two seconds, then stood up casually. "Seems like you're having a hard time letting go."

"..."

Song Li was speechless and explained innocently, "It was just an accident." She added awkwardly, "....Difficult to part with."

Sheng Mu Ci's voice lowered, "Not because you can't bear to part with me?"

"It's not that," Song Li asserted.

Sheng Mu Ci, with a hint of something in his eyes, leaned against the side cabinet and crossed his arms, staring at her. "Are you getting addicted to taking care of me?"

Originally, after working late into the night, Song Li was exhausted. The smell of tobacco in the air seemed to weigh on her eyelids, and she was beginning to feel drowsy.

But this man, who wasn't serious at all, made her heart race, and she suddenly became wide awake.

"I want to look after you, don't say anything too 'wild'..." she blurted out, scrunching her nose.

Who! Dare! To manage him!

In her white coat and a light pink sweater collar peeking out, Song Li had her glasses on, her hair tied into a ponytail at the back of her head. Her face was small, and she was petite, not even reaching his shoulders. When he lowered his eyes slightly, he could see her smooth skin partially concealed by her collar.

In the dimly lit surroundings, her eyes were bright, looking up with a touch of youthful charm, mixed with a hint of annoyance.

On this eve before departure.

Suddenly, Sheng Mu Ci had a strong urge to tease her.

"Don't tell me you want to control me?" he asked leisurely. "What do you want to do?"

Song Li stood there in a daze.

Just as she was about to speak, the person in front of her leaned forward, and a gust of wind rushed in through the window, bringing with it the scent of tobacco from him, forcing its way into her breathing space. Song Li instinctively moved backward, taking a step, her legs hitting the armrest of a chair.

As she tried to steady herself, her heels wobbled, and she suddenly fell into a sitting position.

The instigator of this mischief rested his hand on the armrest, leaned over her, and a sense of leisure and composure appeared in his eyes. He spoke slowly, every word distinct.

"Do you want to... control me?"

At that moment, Song Li's heart raced suddenly.

She knew that Sheng Mu Ci was deliberately teasing her; that's just the way he was, always up to some mischief. She also knew that the best course of action was to appear calm and uninterested, making him lose interest on his own.

But as he looked down at her from above, his shadow completely enveloping her, Song Li found herself unable to control the tension in her limbs.

Although her ears turned red, Song Li refused to show any weakness. She glanced at him without saying much, wanting to retort.

"You have a big..." guts.

The voice carried a hint of coyness, and the crucial second half of the sentence was cut off by a collision.

They both stopped simultaneously, looking towards the source of the sound in unison.

Xu Yan stood there, feeling like he had been caught off guard, unable to move, his face filled with astonishment and fear.

From Xu Yan's perspective, he could only see his third brother's back, and Dr. Song was seated, enveloped by his third brother in a chair.

It was clear that Dr. Song's face was in close proximity to an indescribable part of the man.

And the room was quite dim.

And he had made a request.

And she even said it was big. (T/E: LMAO)

"..."

Xu Yan was dumbfounded when the words "having an affair" swirled in his mind.

In the split second before death, Xu Yan quickly forced a pleasing smile and said, "Haha, just passing by, accidentally bumped into... I'll go back to my room."

You guys continue... have fun...

"Let's stay in touch, Dr. Song," Xu Yan tried to become invisible, and even before leaving, he closed the door considerately.

Song Li came to her senses with the sound of the door closing.

She sensed that something was not right.

"..." Song Li suddenly stood up, glared at someone who remained unruffled, then blushed and ran off.

Contact my foot.

Send a message in a bottle!

-

After that night, Song Li didn't see Sheng Mu Ci again.

The next day, he was discharged, disappearing from Song Li's world. Or rather, after they had separated from their doctor-patient relationship, they returned to their respective circles, as different as clouds and mud.

In reality, Sheng Mu Ci didn't completely disappear from Song Li's life. Every now and then, she could check updates on Xu Yan's social media.

As the storm of hospital consolidation subsided, the progress of Sheng's acquisition remained unimpeded and yet delayed.

Initially, Song Li thought that Sheng Mu Ci might still be in some corner of Nan Yi.

However, Xu Yan's friends' location updates told her otherwise.

He was abroad.

Xu Yan updates his moments almost every day, sharing snippets of his life, from scenic spots to enjoying great meals. It's all quite mundane.

However, Song Li often manages to capture someone's trace from it.

For example, in a corner of the dining table, his unintentionally appearing left hand, wearing a black and gold wristwatch, with elegantly slender fingers. For instance, in Xu Yan's selfies, occasionally, his blurry figure appears.

A distance of over 14,000 kilometers.

He was enjoying worldly pleasures in a foreign land, while Song Li shuttled between the hospital and Lu Zhi Garden, back and forth, day in and day out.

But every time she saw the black suit hanging in her wardrobe, or when she came across Xu Yan's friends' updates, she felt an inexplicable sense of daze.

Even the three words "Sheng Mu Ci" make Song Li feel that the memories of the month when he was in Room 901 are unreal.

As the sun sets, the whole world is in a dream.

Upon waking, every moment vanishes like smoke.

But it's just a feeling of unreality.

One week before New Year's Day, Xu Yan's Moments on social media were tagged at a racing track in Las Vegas, with the caption: "Racing, anyone? It's covered by health insurance!"

It was accompanied by a cool selfie video of him standing in front of the racetrack.

It was around 1 a.m., and Song Li had just finished her night shift. In the break room, before going to sleep, she checked Xu Yan's update.

In Las Vegas, it was still daytime.

In the video, the racetrack was spectacular, spanning across rugged valleys. In the distance, motorbikes roared past one after another. Even just from the video, you could feel the thrill and excitement.

In the last few seconds of the video, Song Li spotted Sheng Mu Ci behind Xu Yan.

He took long strides, mounted a shiny black heavy-modified motorcycle, wearing a stylish black and red protective suit.

Sheng Mu Ci reached out behind him and picked up a helmet, putting it on confidently... setting up a scene full of anticipation.

The video ended there.

But Song Li sat on the edge of the bed and quietly thought, have all his bone injuries healed? He dares to play with speed and passion.

He really doesn't care about his life.

On the night before leaving, she specifically went to remind him to get enough rest.

-

December 31st.

Bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, adding joy to the days.

On New Year's Day, all the medical staff and inpatients at the hospital prepared strawberry bouquets, symbolizing the intention to 'berry' their worries in the new year.

The strawberries were red and white, all plump and expensive.

The entire office was immersed in a joyous atmosphere, and the hospital, for once, was generous and heartwarming.

However, Song Li suddenly remembered Sheng Mu Ci.

While he was still in the hospital, she had eaten his strawberries, which were also red and white, and they were very sweet. Song Li always remembered that.

She also remembered the mangoes that he had eaten.

The bouquet was wrapped in high-quality matte paper, tied with a cute white ribbon, and there was a card on the paper.

Song Li opened it, and on it was written, "Happy New Year, Dr. Song."

Song Li involuntarily smiled.

Then, she received a WeChat message from Su Tangnian.

Su Tangnian: [It's snowing at Nanga Mountain!]

Su Tangnian: [My kid! Let's cross the snow-capped mountains for New Year's Eve!!]

Today is New Year's Day, a rare time to relax.

Song Li was also excited: [Counting down 30 minutes, are you in? Heart-shaped fireworks.jpg]

Su Tangnian: [Beautiful ladies, we have an agreement. Consensus among the beauties.jpg]

Su Tangnian: [Half an hour, I'll pick you up!]

Su Tangnian: [Do you want a "wolf" or a "puppy" brother? Top-notch looks, guaranteed physique! Take your pick!]

Song Li was stunned: [A tour guide?]

Su Tangnian: [???]

Su Tangnian: [I'd like to call it - male pet]

Song Li: [......]

Song Li: [Can't we be a bit less provocative [Seductive expression.jpg]

Su Tangnian firmly said: [We're two single girls, we don't smoke or drink, what's wrong with a bit of 'flirting'?]

Su Tangnian: [Girls shouldn't be too provocative, just like how foreign countries can't be in Jerusalem.]

(T/E: Suggesting that just as it's inappropriate or unacceptable for foreign countries to have a presence in Jerusalem, girls should avoid being too provocative or flirtatious. )

Song Li chuckled softly at her desk.

It's a good point.

The festive atmosphere was delightful, so Song Li abandoned her usual reserve and, in a playful manner, suggested, "Why not all go?"

Su Tangnian excitedly went to make plans with someone.

Putting her phone down, Song Li was planning to finish her last bit of work when the on-duty nurse suddenly appeared at the door, calling her into the office.

"Song Song, the director wants you to go to the parking lot in zone A," she said.

Song Li was stunned for a moment before responding.

Song Li couldn't fathom why Director Wan wanted to see her, but she accepted with a pocket full of questions and went over in a daze.

The parking lot in Zone A is not far from the inpatient department.

It was nearly five o'clock on a winter day, and the sky darkened like a glass of chilled deep red wine, dense and cold.

The hospital's streetlights were all lit, and when she exhaled, an orange light would rise in a puff of white mist. The cold weather made the streets sparsely populated. Song Li tightened her down jacket and quickened her pace.

If Jin Shiwen were here.

Song Li thought it would be a perfect New Year's Eve.

But the essence of life is often contrary to one's wishes. Song Li encountered President Wan in the parking lot, while Jin Shiwen was waiting there.

He stepped out of a black Cayenne, dressed in a formal winter suit, with his usual cold and unyielding demeanor.

The moment Song Li saw Jin Shiwen, she was momentarily stunned, but it only lasted for a couple of seconds, and then she decisively turned away.

However, after taking a few steps, she had to stop.

Jin Shiwen quickly grabbed her arm. (T/E: Boy get your paws off, shoo!)

"Song Li," Jin Shiwen said with a deep voice, pulling her back in front of him.  "Come home with me for dinner."

Song Li tried to pull her arm back, but the strength difference between a man and a woman was evident.

To be honest, Song Li and he had reached a point where they were practically strangers. After all, she was raised by his family. Song Li felt uncomfortable with Jin Shiwen's commanding tone.

"We've already broken up," Song Li said, sounding distant.

Jin Shiwen maintained his stern expression, not showing any emotions, and replied, "It's my mom's wish."

Upon hearing this, Song Li keenly realized the issue.

She asked, "Hasn't Mrs. Jin been informed that we've broken up?"

Jin Shiwen's eyes remained dark, and he didn't answer her question.

Seeing him like this, Song Li sighed.

"I'll talk to Mrs. Jin myself." Song Li didn't dislike Jin Shiwen, but they really weren't suitable for each other.

Song Li had always believed in parting amicably.

She took a breath, and the cold air seemed to chill her to her core. "Jin Shiwen, Happy New Year. Please don't come looking for me at the hospital anymore."

Song Li remained gentle, but her tone had lost the affection it once held.

Jin Shiwen tightened his lips, and his grip on her arm became progressively stronger, almost to the point of hurting her. Song Li frowned, feeling a hint of pain even through the thick clothing.

After a brief silence, Jin Shiwen suddenly said, "If you hadn't blocked me, do you think I would have come to find you?"

Song Li looked up and met his gaze.

Jin Shiwen took a deep breath but remained rigid, his pride not allowing him to back down. "Song Li, enough is enough. After all this time, shouldn't you be done causing a scene?"

...

On this quiet winter night, the sky darkened.

An olive green Jeep Wrangler was parked discreetly, away from the streetlights, concealed in the shadows.

Sheng Mu Ci leaned against the front of the car, with a cigarette between his fingers, bringing it to his lips, taking a deep drag, letting the smoke fill his lungs, and then exhaling a cloud of blue mist leisurely.

As smoke floated in the air, his gaze remained fixed in the direction of a Porsche Cayenne not far away.

Sheng Mu Ci squinted his eyes.

Seeing her with her ex-boyfriend upon returning to the country annoyed him.
